Public Safety

Public safety is the most important service government can provide.  For too long, public safety has not been Atlanta’s top priority.  We cannot allow an undercurrent of fear and apprehension to become the status quo.  If our streets are not safe and our city is not approachable, we will lose residents, tourists, revenue and the opportunity to be a truly livable city.

Amir's Solutions

Amir Farokhi will:

  • Call on the City to ambitiously grow the police and fire departments.
  • Work to put more officers on foot, bike and car patrol and at least four firefighters on each truck.
  • Work with the police and fire departments to stop attrition by identifying innovative ways to keep officers and firefighters with the City. Talent-drain from our police and fire departments inflicts a significant cost on morale and on our quality of life. Amir believes that officers and firefighters who stay with the City deserve step pay increases for length of service and strong performance. Amir also believes we need to think outside the box and examine offering educational grants and property tax breaks to police officers and firefighters who live in Atlanta.
  • Work with the Mayor to increase public safety funding through existing revenue streams by eliminating inefficiencies at City Hall and stepping up code enforcement.
  • Push the City to fully staff the code enforcement department and aggressively enforce all code violations. Amir believes that our quality of life and public safety are tied directly to how much attention we pay to making our neighborhoods clean, attractive and approachable.

It's time for smart, capable individuals from within our neighborhoods to step up and take a leadership role. Amir understands the issues we face and listens to what I have to say. As a life long Atlanta resident, I think Amir really' gets it' and so I support him for At Large post #2
