One of Atlanta’s greatest assets is its vibrant, varied neighborhoods. Very few major American cities have the tapestry of wooded neighborhoods that we do. Our city’s future as a great place to live, rests not on its skyscrapers or tourist attractions but on the health of our neighborhoods. We must make sure that our neighborhoods flourish by protecting the tree canopy, increasing park space, promoting community-driven economic development in under-served areas and protecting long-time residents. As we grow, we must also make sure that each neighborhood has affordable workforce housing and access to transit.
Amir's Solutions
Amir Farokhi will:
- Push the City to aggressively enforce the tree ordinance to preserve our tree canopy.
- Facilitate conversations between developers and neighborhoods so that our growth benefits everyone.
- Call on the City to create a dedicated funding source for sidewalk maintenance, prioritize sidewalk projects based on demand and take responsibility for maintaining all sidewalks in the City.
Doug Alexander, Former Atlanta City CouncilmemberI know that Amir knows how to listen to people and get to the heart of their concerns, and that he also understands the challenges that face our city in these turbulent times. I am confident that he will approach all of these opportunities with humanity and intelligence and a sincere concern for all of Atlanta’s citizens. We need Amir Farokhi to help get Atlanta back on track in 2009.
